What is CAAWT Membership?
CAAWT Membership is an online constructional community where members support each other to think, plan, design, implement, and revise constructional programs to solve various behavioral challenges, improve our relationships with animals and animal welfare. During the open houses and lab meetings, members share their training project, plan, and training videos to get feedback from Sean, Maasa, and the members to achieve meaningful goals.
Membership Perks
Open House
Join a 2-hour open house hosted by Sean and Maasa every month on the 1st, 3rd, and 5th week! It is held on two different days: Friday, 6pm-8pm Eastern Time, and Tuesday, 3pm-5pm Eastern Time. We interchange these dates. During Open House, you can share assessment and training videos for advice and feedback for the next sessions, ask questions, and discuss certain topics! Open House will be recorded and available in the CAAWT Membership Facebook group.
CAAWT Lab
Science keeps evolving, and so does our training and technology. In the CAAWT Lab, members can present their projects, reserve for live training, request a certain topic to present and develop training programs and procedures by applying the constructional approach. Members will have the option of signing up to reserve days for presentations, request topics for discussion, and enjoy some special projects Maasa and Sean are working on that the public has not yet seen! CAAWT Lab is held on the 2nd and 4th week of every month. It is held on two different days: Thursday from 1pm-3pm Eastern Time, and Friday from 6pm-8pm Eastern Time. This program is for premium members only.
Group Classes
CAAWT offers a variety of group classes covering many different topics from a basic and philosophical understanding of the science of behavior and the Constructional Approach to the practical applications and programming based on the Constructional Approach to solve various behavioral challenges! Premium members receive 50% off to join the group classes!
CAAWT Membership Facebook Group
You can connect with the CAAWT community, watch members' training videos, ask questions, discuss various topics on animal training, behavior analysis, and more!
CAAWT Membership Conference
All CAAWT members are invited to attend this conference for free, and will have access to the recordings. Several CAAWT members have the opportunity to present their work with our support. In 2023, we hosted CAAWT Membership Shelter and Zoon Conference from August 25 to 27th! Read the full conference program here
Members will also have access to the recordings of the Japanese CAAWT Membership Conference! Although the presentation will not be translated into English, this is a great opportunity to learn what Japanese CAAWT members are accomplishing!

CAAWT Book Club
CAAWT Book Club is a place where we explore a book together for several weeks. We get together on zoom once a week for several weeks to discuss the main points of the assigned chapter, share our thoughts and understanding, and learn together. CAAWT members (Basic/Premium) can join for FREE! We also open CAAWT Book Club for the non-member!
CAAWT Webinars
CAAWT hosts webinars covering different topics of animal training and welfare. We invite scientists and experts in specific areas, Q&A sessions with them, a book club, and more! Premium members receive 50% off to join the webinars!

CAAWT Membership Rule – Be Constructional!

This online constructional community is a place where everyone supports one another to apply the Constructional Approach and continue refining our knowledge and skills to improve the lives of animals.

What do we mean by taking a Constructional Approach? The Constructional Approach (Goldiamond, 1974) focuses on establishing desirable behaviors rather than eliminating undesirable behaviors. Within this community, we want to remember to be Constructional with our training and interactions with each other. When giving feedback, focus on desirable behaviors. For example, when looking at a project or training video from another member, describe what is well done to reinforce good behavior, and we can provide tips for success on areas that can be improved.
